It is really important that you have matching cake knives and toasting glasses at your wedding. Not only will this look terrific next to your cake, you will have something extra special to toast with your new husband or wife and great props for your Photographer. Here are a few brands that we love and know you'll be able to keep their products for years to come.
Marchesa ahas created a stunning range of cake knives and toasting glasses. The items within their table top collection has been inspired by their own high end and bespoke wedding gowns. They feature intricate patterns, roses and glamorous detail. The collection is very wedding appropriate.
The glasses we have featured are regal, elegant and rather dramatic. Sure to make a statement when you make your wedding toasts. For glasses such as these, we'd suggest you only pick them if you have gold or accents of gold in your theme. If not, Marchesa has some stunning crystal glasses that may be more suited to themes without gold. Whilst some of the collections may be better suited to a ball rather than a wedding, their Marchesa Rose, Pleated Swirl and Lenox stemware collections are simply perfect for a wedding.
Wedgewood for Vera Wang
Vera Wang has a unique collection of toasting glasses and serving ware available online. The range is youthful, sophisticated and aspirational. Each item has beautiful detail and style. The quality is also extremely high. For those who do not know much about Vera, at 23 she became the youngest fashion editor and stylist of Vogue America and later opened her own flagship store. She now is head to an empire of home-wares, wedding gowns and ready-to-wear items. Vera is a personal favourite of ours. Her "With Love" collection were used in our own Creative Director Alex's wedding. They now are brought out on very special occasions and will be handed down to Alex's children on their wedding day. It certainly pays to have something extra special and timeless for your wedding.
Waterford has some elegant and timeless pieces. They seem to specialise in creating cut crystal items or coloured glass flutes. Waterford Crystal has been established since 1783 and is one of the worlds most recognised crystal designers. With over 200 years of experience, their designs transcend centuries and are items that families keep and pass down from generation to generation. They make a perfect wedding gift as well.
The coloured and cut crystal pieces we've selected to show below would be perfect for a vintage inspired or period themed wedding. The toasting glasses will make a statement when sitting next to you wedding cake. And, for those that would prefer to toast with a unique cocktail glass, the Amethyst pair are just way to much fun!
The brand also work closely with Wedding Gown Designer Monique Lhuillier to create a Silver Cake Knife & Server range and Silver toasting flutes.
We really love Kate Spade. Her items are really wedding appropriate (with little Mr. & Mrs. engravings) or beautiful fine finishes. They are also really affordable. We recommend her designs to couples who are modern, fashion forward and who like interesting patterns. a Wedding featuring Kate Spade designs should ideally be filled with colour, bold prints (think stripes, dots...) and big bows!
Kate Spade is a charming brand with loads of colour, playful prints and unique charm. Their items are young and fun. The brand started in 1993 by a former accessories editor at Mademoiselle, Kate Brosnahan Spade. It has since become a well known go to shop for fresh and visually interesting designs.
For something a little different why not get some Vercace flutes. They are elegant, oh so luxurious and perfect for a couple who want a 5 star studded affair. They are a little more expensive than some of the other brands, but WOW they are beautiful. Vercace has been an icon in the fashion, home ware and hotel world for decades. These will surely make you feel like royalty at your wedding. And, even better, they have spectacular whisky glasses for the groom!
Where To Buy
We have included with the images some on-line stores for the brands. However, for those of you who prefer to pick up your items in person (like we do!), there are some stores internationally that stock items like these. Try: Australia - David Jones; America Nordstroms; England - Harrods. Plus most of these items can be purchased on-line.
Of course, these are just a few to start with. Stay tuned as we will surely write about other bands over time.
