Rembo Styling is a Belgian family business celebrating 90 years in bridal fashion. Designed in Belgium, all gowns are made in Portugal, where the Rembo Group uses the perfect mix of innovative technology and artisanal craft to produce affordable, luxurious bridal gowns and accessories.
Today, the company is run by fourth generation brand-heiresses Chiara De Vlieger and Victoria Wilden, hand in hand with their creative partner, Ruth Donne. Kisses & Cake spoke with the designers about their stunning collection and how they would style the perfect bohemian bride. Here's their tips.
How To Style A Bohemian Bride
Ruth: The 2017 collection embraces our signature bohemian spirit with a little extra edge. We noticed our brides choosing to dare more, maybe with a crop top or open back, maybe with keyhole cutouts. We love how this collection incorporated those design elements to reflect the personality in our bride. The Rembo girl’s style is a natural extension of who she is and how she lives her life… We want all of our gowns to make her bridal style an easy choice.
Chiara: Comfort is a priority for our brides, as it should be! We want her to feel beautiful from the inside-out.
Ruth: This season we’re loving long, flowy, column skirts with a mix of sleeve lengths, from spaghetti straps to cap sleeves to ¾ sleeves. We incorporated fewer strapless gowns in the mix this year, but the ones we did design have structured bodices to make sure the bride is still comfortable.
Victoria: Fabric is essential to the bride’s comfort too. Our silks and laces are lightweight and breathable. This year, we designed a few knitwear pieces from cashmere and mohair to give our brides some cozy layering options.
Chiara: Our gowns aren’t just for photographing. We want Rembo brides to imagine themselves dancing, laughing, moving, toasting, hugging, and kissing in her gown. In order to live, she has to feel alive!
Victoria: Comfortable, chic shoes are important too! We love seeing sandals or strappy heels in neutral tones- nudes, cognacs or metallics.
Chiara: Or no shoes! I love the idea of a statement-making anklet instead.
Victoria: We love jewelry that reflects the bride’s personal style… It could be something old or something new! We styled the 2017 campaign by mixing and matching necklaces and bracelets from Yz’Bel.
Chiara: With flowers in her hair! We love a full crown or just a few sprigs of Baby’s Breath to accentuate an effortless hairstyle.
Victoria: Whether it’s waves or braids, the bride should look (and feel) like herself! Effortlessly beautiful.
Chiara: Same rule for makeup! Low key and natural with colour on her cheeks and nothing too much on your lips… You need to be able to kiss your beloved whenever you feel like without worrying about makeup!
Ruth: The most important styling for a bohemian bride is her smile… The ultimate symbol of love and happiness!
As a fourth generation family member of the Marylise Rembo Group, Chiara de Vlieger’s work feels more like home. Immediately after graduating from Antwerp University in Belgium, Chiara joined the family business, developing her role in marketing and communications. Chiara lives outside Antwerp’s city center, where she enjoys the perfect balance of the bustling fashion industry and a calming suburban life.
After graduating from University College Ghent in Antwerp with a degree in fashion technology, Ruth Donne began working for the Marylise Rembo Fashion Group in sales as an account manager. With a profound love for the brand, Ruth started exploring her creative talents by designing a few gowns for the Rembo collections and over the years grew into her current role as creative partner. Ruth lives in Tongeren, Belgium.
While in college at the Maastricht University in The Netherlands, Victoria Wilden spent her free time modeling for an agency that connected her with Rembo Styling. With a growing affection for the brand and staff, Victoria took an open sales role at Rembo following graduation. Fast forward ten years, Victoria is now a sales partner living in Aachen, Germany.
