New York Bridal Week: Fall 2016

Another New York bridal week means another set of beautiful gowns for us to admire. The collections of New York's Fall 2016 Bridal Week feature a variety of styles, colours, and textures. Here are some of our favourites... 

Alon Livne White

Alon Livne White started his fashion career early and worked his way up to becoming an exceptionally prestigious designer in Israel. He went on to win Israel's version of "Project Runway." Today, his gowns are recognized around the world for their innovative designs. Celebrities like Lady Gaga and Beyonce have made appearances in his creations.

The thirty eight gowns that make up the 2016 Couture Collection "The Swan" are contemporary, elegant, and feminine. Many of the gowns feature sheer materials. The collection was inspired by the Russian ballet and its icon: the swan. Indeed the beautiful pearls, fabrics, and cuts of the collection give off the same elegance that is associated with the gowns' inspiration.

Claire Pettibone

Claire Pettibone studied at Otis Parsons School of Design in Los Angeles and went on to design lingerie. She currently works to create bridal gowns with an emphasis on vintage romance. The company is based in Los Angeles.

Claire Pettibone's fall collection "The Gilded Age" stays true to the romantic feel the designer's creations are known for. The gowns feature dashes of colour, making each dress truly unique. The collection is laced with beautiful pale blues, tans, and golds. Intricate spirals are predominant motifs within the collection.

Houghton's designer and creative director Katherine Polk works to create unique gowns that are both elegant and comfortable to wear. The company, based in New York City, has been featured in various publications including People, Elle, and

From edgy to conservative, simple to extravagant, and creamy to colourful, Houghton's 2016 bridal collection offers an eclectic range for brides to choose from. The gowns are all quite different from each other, allowing the collection to cater to a wide range of wedding themes and settings. The collection is not exclusive to bridal gowns; jackets, skirts, and other exceptional pieces are also featured in Houghton's chic collection.

Inbal Dror

Inbal Dror is one of Israel's most distinguished bridal gown designers. Brides from all over the world have chosen her unique and romantic gown's for their special day. Inbal Dror gowns are recognized for their elegant open backs and creative pocket designs.

The Inbal Dror fall and winter collection is made up of 32 beautifully detailed pieces. Many of the dresses feature sheer cup corsets and high slits. The soft champagne and vanilla colours unite with the elaborate embroidery to create a soft, romantic look. Ball room, mermaid, and open-back gowns are all featured in the collection. A variety of dark bridal gowns are available for brides wanting an alternative, edgy look.

Jean-Ralph Thurin

Upon graduating Parsons School of Design, Jean-Ralph Thurin stove to design gowns that stay true to the bride's personality. His love of travel has given him a global perspective, allowing his gowns' designs to reflect various cultures. Kim Kardashian, Courtney Lopez, and Brandi Glanville are a just a few of the iconic women who have work Jean-Ralph Thurin's designs.

The opulently-styled gowns that make up the Fall 2016 Jean-Raph Thurn Bridal Couture Collection were inspired by and give off the luxurious look of Marie Antoinette and the Versailles gardens. The gowns feature hints of gold and a range of bodice styles. The detailing and modern structure of the gowns combine for a lavishly regal look.

Jenny Packham

Jenny Packham is renowned throughout the world for her contemporary styling; Angelina Jolie, Kate Winslet, Kate Hudsen, and other stars have made appearances in the designer's beautiful creations. London, Paris, New York, and Hong Kong are home to the Jenny Packham flagship stores and showrooms.

Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's dream inspired Jenny Packham as she created her 2016 Bridal Catwalk Collection. The romantic gowns feature silks, ostrich feathers, bows, and crystals that give the wearer a sense of fanciful elegance. Combined with vanilla, champagne, blue, and pink hues, the collection's unique textures create a simultaneously romantic and modern look. 

Lela Rose

With an education from Parson's School of Design, Lela Rose creates elegant gowns that are widely known for their beautifully handcrafted detail. In addition to the company's flagship boutique in Dallas, the Lela Rose bridal labels can be found throughout the United States and in Canada, Europe, Russia, the Middle East, and Japan.

Can a gown be both simple and detailed? Lela Rose's 2016 fall and winter collection proves that, with just the right amount of texture, a gown can certainly be both. The collection's pearls, crystals, and floral designs are arranged to make this paradox a reality. The gowns express Individuality and sophistication.

Naeem Khan

After growing up in India, Naeem Khan moved to the United States and pursued a career in fashion design. The sophistication and hand-crafted detailing of Naeem Khan's designs have been recognized by Taylor Swift, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Lopez, Michelle Obama, and many other inflectional women. 

From neckline to hem, the details of Naeem Khan's fall gowns are beautifully balanced. The fringe, ribbons, and lace make this an eye-catching collection. Naeem Khan's designs feature several neckline cuts including v-neck, tulle-illusion, and sweetheart styles. Ball gowns are prevalent in the collection. Each gown is unique, balanced, and perfectly detailed.

Oscar de la Renta

Oscar de la Renta, a native to the Dominican Republic, relocated to New York City in 1963. His designs earned the brand various awards, including the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year Award, and were worn by American First Ladies Nancy Reagan, Hillary Clinton, and Laura Bush. He launched his bridal collection in 2006. After Oscar de la Renta's passing in 2014, Peter Copping became the Oscar de la Renta Creative Director and launched his first collection in fall 2015.

The Oscar de la Renta Fall 2016 Bridal Collection gowns emanate elegance from simplicity. Hints of ruffles and flowers add originality to the sophisticated gowns. The collection features dresses with detailed bodices and flowing skirts.

Reem Acra

Reem Acra studied at Fashion institutes in New York and Paris, and today her gowns are known for their beautiful silks and reflection of the wearer's personality. In addition to weddings, her designs have been worn on the red carpet and to various award ceremonies. Acra uses fabrics and texture to create a look that is both glamorous and sophisticated.

The sheer bodices and sparkle within Reem Acra's "The Magic Moment" collection radiate romance and glamour. The allurement of the detail and the traditional silhouettes create a beautiful mix of modernity and convention. The collection provides a variety of cuts including plunge neck, staples, and tank styles. Each dress has a unique look, yet the lightness creates a sense of unity throughout the collection.

Temperley London

Temperley London was founded by the brand's Creative Director Alice Temperley. The company is based in London and launched The Temperley Bridal line in 2006. Temperley is known for its ethereal gowns and has become one of the most distinguished brands in Britain contemporary fashion.

The tulles and lace of the Temperley designs warrant softness. The collection features gowns with beautiful geometric patterns and gowns that show their elegance in simplicity. There is also much diversity in collection's cuts and styles.
