Wedding Gifts You Can't Unwrap

We live in an age where brides and grooms can request their guests pick from a pre-determined gift registries or contribute a nominal amount (usually $100 per head) to their wedding wishing wells. Whilst some guests love the simplicity of these common concepts, others like the idea of giving a gift that will stand out from the crowd. Something remarkable and memorable. A gift that simply won't fit into a box. So we've found some really awesome gifts that will be remembered for years to come.

Whilst this may seem like a really strange wedding gift, we think it is such a cool way to get your bride and groom outdoors doing something really fun together. Not only will it be a great bonding experience for them, they will get a little bit of exercise and road safety understanding at the same time. We like the look of Bikewise in Sydney.

Animal Welfare

This is probably our FAVOURITE gift you could give. We actively help support animal welfare at Kisses & Cake and frequently recommend to our brides that instead of spending thousands of dollars on bonbonniere, they could instead donate the whole amount to a chosen charity and leave a little note for each guest on the table that their gift has been given to save an animals life. Money well spent!

As a guest you too could help save our little furry friends. How wonderful will the bride and groom feel when they know they have saved a little goat, pig, dog, cat, rabbit, or bear from a life of pain and suffering! Take a look at Animals Australia, World Animal Protection Organisation, Animal Welfare League or a great cause in your area.

KIVA Micro Loans

As you can see we really like charitable giving. KIVA is a really great concept where you can make a loan to an entrepreneur across the globe (usually underprivileged individuals) for as little as $25. The borrowers can use it to start their business or help them further their studies. We've already given money to women starting clothing businesses and farmers. This is certainly a gift that keeps on giving. Once the business has repaid back the loan, the bride and groom can then loan the money again to another borrower of their choice.

House Cleaning & Laundry

Treat your fav couple to a few months of bliss by arranging their own personal house cleaner or laundry service. Let the newly weds enjoy their married life together without having to worry about cleaning toilets, scrubbing bathtubs, mopping floors or doing the ironing. They will start their life together happy (and possibly a lot less arguments).

There are loads of companies for house cleaning so we'd suggest you check out Air Tasker and put in the relevant search criteria. For clothes/linen, we think Laundry Spa sounds pretty cool.

Flowers

How lovely would it be for the newlyweds to receive a fresh bunch of flowers in their house every month for a year? We've found an affordable way for you to send a little posey to the bride and groom with a different little message each time. You may grab another couple who'd like to join you in on this awesome gift. Check out Little Flowers in Sydney or Daily Blooms in Melbourne where you will roughly spend $30 per bunch of flowers.

Wine Appreciation Course

For friends that are interested in wine there are some really terrific courses on offer that will teach them about wine and its complexities. They can taste premium and aged wines, understand how to pair wines with food, and learn about viticulture and wine making. And, it is a really fun way for the newlyweds to spend some quality time together and share their love for the finer things in life. We'd suggest finding a course nearby the couple. Some we've found in Sydney are The Vine Press or nationally on Red Balloon. Or if you'd prefer, you could always set them up with a picnic and wines to enjoy on their own as well as a private tasting. We actually attended one a short time ago and it was a really amazing experience.

This might be the ultimate gift for those wanting to relax after a stressful wedding experience or couples who are postponing their honeymoon. There are loads of companies that can offer in house massage services or foot and facial packages which will help the bride and groom relax together in the privacy of their own home. The masseuse will bring all the necessary equipment and set up a luxurious and romantic newlyweds massage. Whilst we haven't tested these guys out ourselves, we've heard great things and they are available nation wide. And, if you have any suggestions feel free to let us know.

Picnic & Bridge Climb

If you live in Sydney, we highly recommend you climb the Harbour Bridge. They offer some really great hamper packages for two where couples can relax under the bridge before or after their romantic adventure up one of the worlds most iconic monuments. Although it is a little exy, for a very special couple it might be the perfect gift. Check out Red Balloon as they keep current with any bridge climb offers or go direct to Bridge Climb.

Honeymoon Gift

Whilst we don't have anything specific for this one we thought we'd throw out some ideas for you to think about. If you can find out where the couple will be honeymooning you might be able to organise a special experience for them during their trip. Think anything from a private dinner, boat ride, day at a luxury spa, diving, canoeing or another adventure experience, expensive bottle of champagne on arrival, secret adventure with the whole day planned for them or just a simple picnic on a beautiful beach. And if budget is no limit, then you might even be able to upgrade the couples flight from economy to business or put them up on a luxury yacht for the day...

We'd suggest that you check with the couple first to make sure your activities will fit in nicely - even give the gift slightly in advance and tell them they have a surprise wedding gift and ask them to keep a particular day free. As we are also animal advocates we'd just suggest you avoid touristy animal adventures such as elephant rides or circus/sea world type experiences. Usually these animals are not treated very nicely.
